You’ve not made it in this age of social media unless you have a parody account created for your likeness. For those unfamiliar, a parody account is a fictional likeness of a person or thing tossing out humorous, sometimes offensive, takes related to the actual person or thing on social media.
The Masters is no different and “Rae’s Creek” has made his appearance in Twitter world.
The beautiful, but oft-hated body of water fronting Hole 12 at Augusta certainly has its own personality while ridiculing and tempting the fate of the participants this week.
“Rae Rae” has threatened to “grab the balls” of those who are short of their pin-seeking desires. Who knows what he has planned for this week but if the past few days are any indication, there will be plenty of barbs “splashed” out by the fictional personality of the body of water.
Justin Rose and his caddie Mark Fulcher have taken a particular liking to “the creek”. I am not sure if it is due to superstition to avoid any retribution this week, but the creek evidently is a big fan of the British duo as well.
Legend has it, Freddie Couples attempted to make friendly with the creek back in the day. We all know how that worked out!
Rae Rae and the Englishmen have evidently negotiated a pact where the creek will never gobble up one of Rose’s shots. Though it is uncertain whether the bridge was crossed when this promise was made. Kudos to Rose and Fulcher for showing their lighter side and having some harmless fun!
The account is also running a contest for its followers. LIFT23, an up and coming, athletic sock company is offering a $25 store credit for all of the followers who retweet the contest information if a player is lucky enough to card an ace on Hole 12 this week.
Additionally, Rae Rae has made friendly with a local Augusta church, its pastor, local sportscaster, and a weather personality. Let’s hope for our viewing pleasure, the creek’s friendship with Kelly Dobeck is able to result in favorable weather when the big show finally starts on Thursday!!
