CJ Cup: Thomas and Brown share the third round lead

CJ Cup

Justin Thomas and Scott Brown survived windy conditions Saturday and are tied after the third round of the CJ Cup @Nine Bridges.

Thomas shot a two under 70 after a second round 74 cost him the lead. Brown fired a one-under 71 to tie Thomas at nine-under par for the third round lead.

“I know I played better today than I did Thursday when I shot 9-under”, said Thomas when asked how difficult the windy conditions were on Saturday.

“I’m not proud of how I acted during the first two rounds. I was so tired and I let it get the best of me. Today I knew I had to just be patient and I’m proud of how I played”, said Thomas.

Brown recovered late in his round, birdieing the 15th and the 18th holes.

“It was tough playing today. I grinded it out. Not a lot of birdies being made,” said Brown after his third round.  “From what they tell me about the weather, it’s going to be brutal. I think it’s going to be a dogfight. I think it’s going to be ‘do what you can and you see what happens.”

Only 10 of 77 players shot under par in Round 3. The forecast for Sunday is for more wind.

Overnight leader Luke List struggled with the windy conditions and fell into a tie for eighth place after a 76. List had three bogeys on the front nine and a pair of double bogeys on the back nine.

The best round of the day came from An Byeong-hun with a five-under 67.
