Tiger Woods announces his return to competitive golf

Tiger Woods will return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge in December.

Woods has been out of action since the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour last February where he withdrew after one round with back spasms. He underwent back surgery in April.

Woods announced his return on his website today.

“I am excited to return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge,” Woods said. “Albany is the perfect setting and it will be great to join this outstanding field. I want to thank Pawan Munjal and Hero MotoCorp for their continued support of this tournament and my foundation. I would also like to thank the fans for their unwavering support during my injury.”

The event will be Nov. 30-Dec. 3 at Albany, Bahamas. This is the second straight year Woods returns to golf at this event.

The Hero World Challenge is made up of 18 players and not an official PGA Tour event.
